Redness & Vessels
Visible Vessels
Individual broken capillaries and telangiectasia, most often around the nose and cheeks.
01
What it is
Telangiectasia are permanently dilated small blood vessels visible through the skin as fine red or purple threads. They do not resolve on their own.
They are distinct from diffuse redness in that each vessel can be individually targeted and cleared.
02
Why it happens
- Chronic sun damage weakening vessel walls and their dermal support.
- Rosacea and repeated flushing cycles.
- Genetics, pregnancy, alcohol, and trauma to the area.
03
The layer involved
Structure
Papillary and upper reticular dermis
The target is the haemoglobin inside the vessel. Light or laser energy is absorbed by the blood, coagulating the vessel so the body clears it — the surrounding skin is left intact.

05 · When we may need a medical assessment
Some things belong with a doctor first.
- A cluster of vessels that appeared suddenly, or that bleeds.
- Vessels on the legs with aching, swelling or heaviness, which may indicate venous insufficiency requiring vascular review.
- Vessels in a child or associated with a birthmark.
